Two Steps to Monet copy

This painting shows the beginning steps in Sarah Moore's copy of Monet's Lilies on the left and the finished product on the right. This was only her second painting. The colors are wonderful!!

Small Pastel

Ann Seago did this small pastel (4 x 6") today in class. She is very versatile and paints beautifully, as well (with both acrylics AND oils).

anatomy of a pastel

This was my demonstration for pastels for Painting in the Parks at Stacy Park on Saturday, April 25. I had to do it quickly so I tried to capture shape and lights and the general placement of things. I finished the drawing in my studio (without returning to the scene) because I believe doing that gives more character to the piece.

Yesterday in Stacy Park

These two paintings are by Camille Harmon. She paints quickly and almost always does two paintings to everyone else's one! I think the Live Oak tree is wonderfully loose and colorful! Both paintings are acrylic and smallish 12x 12" and 8 x 10".

Painting in the Parks, week three

This painting is by Robin Senor. I think the colors are so vibrant. It is about 12 x 14" and is acrylic on canvas.

Pastels in the park

This is another piece by Jenny Peresta. It is a pastel on sandpaper and is approximately 9 x 12". This was done today in the Painting in the Parks class.

These two paintings are done by Kharon Clark. The painting on the left is acrylic on canvas and is about 16 x20" and was painted in Bull Creek last week. The painting on the right is acryclic on canvas and is about 10 x 14" and was painted in Stacy Park this week.

These two recent chalk pastels on paper were done by Nikki Hart. She reminds me of the German Expressionists. Colors galore!

The process of a painting

This is one painting by Megan Conrad. The painting on the left was worked on a week ago, adding hot colors over cool, dark colors, then cool colors over the hot colors. The painting on the right was finished last night with the final lightest hot colors. It is acrylic on canvas approximately 24 x 18".

Good Golly Miss Molly!

This is Molly Leighton's most recent painting (done last night). She is my youngest student (15 years young!). Very talented! This painting is 24 x 18" on cardboard.
